WoW!! What an incredible thunder and lightning storm. It was like having my own personal light show in my tent. And the rain and the wind! I couldn't believe it. I was lying in my tent, cause thats all the room there is, laughing and thinking if it was possible for the tent to blow away with me in it. I went over the design in my mind and the way that the tent is made is its impossible for it to blow apart unless it rips or the pegs come out. I had no plan on what to do if the cover blew off. That made me laugh even harder. The storm finally calmed after about an hour. Everything was still in tacked and inside I was still dry. We survived the night but packing up was a little wet.
I had breakfast at the camp restaurant and the weather was a big topic for discussion. I met Jim and Karen who were from the States and just stopped for something to eat. They were huge animal lovers and it was wonderful talking with them. We shared similar views and stories and that motivated me today. They had left and when I went to pay for my breakfast the owner informed me they had paid for my breakfast. I didn't get the opportunity to thank them for that.
Today I wanted to get as far as Richer so that I could make it to Winnipeg in four days. That meant running 31 miles. I was starting to get use to longer runs and with the flatter roads I felt strong enough to make it. Being in another province and the thought of beiing in Winnipeg soon helped pick my spirits up and I felt better physically and mentally.
I got to Richer and the campground was too far off the highway. Not many options. There was one motel with four rooms. I stayed there for the night.
Even animals need compassion and kindness!
