It was a warm night. I didn't need to sleep in my sleeping bag. I was out of the campground by 6am. It was going to be a hot day and I wanted to be there, whereever there is, by noon before it got too hot.
I was making great time and before I knew it I had gone 42km. I reached a town called Deschaillons. I came across the Motel de la Rive that had cabin like rooms over looking the river. I stopped and met the owner Claude. He gave me a cabin for the night and didn't charge me. Not long after I settled into my room he brought me a great meal and didn't charge me. He did that for dinner and breakfast too. I couldn't believe it.
I sat outside for a while staring out into the river. It was very hot. I thought about all the animals that weren't going to live past today and how awful it felt that today wasn't going to be the day that we can save them all. And that every day until that day comes more and more innocent animals will die. And everyday someone makes that decision and someone has to take a life. And somewhere someone is responsible for it. What is it going to take to change things.
Even animals need compassion and kindness!
