Day 95 - Echo Bay

It was hard to get up this morning cause i had had such a deep sleep. After I packed and came out of the washroom the coffee sign was up in Kay & Lorne's camper window. As a bonus Kay included some cereal and toast. Ray had taken some photos and gave me some copies to take with me. Beth had left a banana on Gidget to go along with the orange she gave me the night before.

Once I got running I was making great time. I wanted to be in Echo Bay early to have more recovery time between runs. That hasn't been working out so well and with the hills coming up I would need that. I passed a place called Bear Rd. and decided I wouldn't be camping in this area.

As I reached Desbarats I met two walkers. They were a team of 6 and had support vehicles. It was interesting to hear what they were doing. At the same time Kelly & Andrea caught up to me but that would be the last I would see of them. When they left I headed across the hwy to the Trading Post and stopped to ice my feet and change my shoes.

I had a nice surprise today. A car pulled up in the distance but noone got out. I could see this camera sticking out the window so I smiled and waved. To my surprise it was John & Susan (where I had stayed for 2 nights before Espanola). They were on their way to the States to celebrate their 48th anniversary and spotted me so they stopped. I was so happy to see them and the hugs felt great. It was a short visit but it lifted my spirits.

I got to Echo Bay and camped at Ojibway Park. It was right along the water and huge. I had a mile of camp sites to choose from. I parked myself right beside the showers. I went over to the store to get some ice and I met Penny. She was so interested in what I was doing and asked alot of questions. She bought my milk and snack and helped me with directions to the Humane Society in the Sault. Later she came over to my tent and signed my flag.
