Angel and her husband Ricky dropped me off on hwy 158. I was forced to take the northern route because of restrictions on the main highways. I would take hwy 158 to Lachute and then onto hwy 148 to Grenville and cross the bridge to Hawksbury.
Just before I reached Lachute a woman stopped just a head. She crossed the street and looked like she had something in her hand she was concealing. She stopped me and asked me if I was running for cancer and looked like she wanted to make a donation. When I told her I was running for animals she was no longer interested and left. I was dissappointed that she didn't think animals were a good enough cause to try to help. When that happens it makes me realize how important it is for those of us who want to help to speak out otherwise our companion friends will never escape sure death.
The shoulders were pretty good on the 158 but once I reached hwy 148 I was pushing my stroller thru gravel most of the time which was slow going at times.
I stopped at the Esso in Grenville and called Jo of Jazzy-Jo Havenly Felines. We had arranged beforehand to meet up when I got there. A friend of hers, Ghislaine, lived near by and would pick me up while we waited for Jo. Once Jo arrived we met up with Talk Ottawa for an interview and some filming. We crossed over the bridge to Hawksbury and the local paper also did an interview. Then we went to Jo's shelter for more filming. Jo was great and instrumental in arranging some media coverage. She also put me up for the night and would drop me off again in the morning.
Even animals need compassion and kindness!
