Jo drove me back to the highway. We met another reporter from the local paper that Jo had arranged the night before while I was sleeping. She is amazing.
Once I left Hawksbury, 42 km would get me to appr. Clarence Creek. It was a hot day and the shoulders were gravel and it made it a bit more difficult to push through. There was a little more traffic on the 174. I passed a dead deer carcas on the side of the road, it must have been there for a very long time cause there wasn't much left of it. I hoped that it didn't suffer. I went as far as I could, 27 miles, one mile short of Clarence Creek. I called my ride and waited to be picked up.
Tonight I would sleep in my own bed. I had to pinch myself a few times. Was I really back in Ottawa.
Even animals need compassion and kindness!
