Day 123 - Upsula

The day had to come when I would be too far for my sisters to help me anymore. This was the day. We had to get up pretty early again. This time I had Gidget and all of my stuff with me. We tried to talk about the time we had together and not about the fact that she wouldn't be coming back to pick me up tonight. It was thirty miles to Upsula and I would be out of range. We got to Raith and Chris waited a few minutes while I loaded up Gidget but then she had to go. She honked her horn and I waved until she was out of site. I couldn't hold back the tears. I was just standing there on the highway crying and wishing she would turn around and come back and get me. Everything felt Ok as long as they were around and now the thought of being alone again was almost enough to make me want to pack it in.

There were clouds ahead of me and rain coming so if I was going to make it to Upsula I had to get moving. Once I started running my thoughts turned to Gidget. I wasn't totally alone cause I had my running buddy Gidget and she had new wheels. It was much easier to push her now. Tylar had done a good job fixing her up. I thought about how much my sisters had done for me. I went to Marie's office and met some of the people she works with. One person I met, Rose, had a baby bird in her office that had been rescued and she didn't know if it would survive. Marie and John had assisted me with the campgrounds along the way. If Marie hadn't made the doctor's appointment for me I wouldn't have discovered these Etonic shoes which are helping my feet. I met the people in Chris's office and they are so nice and good to my sister. Both my sisters did so much for me I can't thank them enough. I miss them but they've given me lots to take with me.
I went about ten miles and it started to rain. I was getting drenched by the trucks going by. But even more annoying was having to constantly take pebbles out of my shoes. I passed a dead moose on the side of the road and the smell was horrible. It was hard to stay motivated today. I went another ten miles and it was still raining. At least there wasn't many hills today.

Everything was wet and it was still raining when I got to Upsula. I took a motel room and met a cyclist who was also staying there. He was going east and halfway through his trip. I was able to talk to him about the western routes. I'll have some decisions to make before I get to Alberta on which route would be best for me.

For now I can only think about tomorrow and making it as far as English River. I ask God for his strength cause I can't make it alone.
