Day 116 - Pearl

My nephew Tylar was able to bike with me again today but only as far as Dorion, 13 miles. He was going into Thunder Bay with his Dad to hunt down some bolts for the new wheels he was going to put on Gidget. He's such a great kid. His Dad brought some water so I filled up.

It was a warmer day today and after Tylar left I missed him. I was getting use to having him on the road with me and I enjoyed his company. He's going to be with me tomorrow to run to the Terry Fox Lookout so I'm happy about that.

There was more traffic on the highway today. Had a couple of cars passing another car with no warning and they come very close. I can almost feel them brushing my arm but its from the wind they generate. I wish they would honk or something for a warning. It was relatively flat and better for running. I didn't have Gidget again today, she's still resting, so that was helping. My feet and legs were a little stiff from not running for a few days. Passed a couple of cyclists, a few trains and saw a couple of cranes in the water.

Just passed Pearl my sister Marie picked me up. She brought me a cold drink which was great cause I had run out of water. She told me she met some people that I met at Bruce Mines campground. They were in the area and hoping to catchup with me. I had asked them to stop at my sisters and visit if they had the chance. I'm hoping I'll see them on the highway tomorrow. They are wonderful people and I would love to see them again.

This would be the last night I stay at Marie's house because tomorrow I would be in Thunder Bay for the next few days and staying with my other sister Chris before I'm out of range for both of them. I was looking forward to reaching the Terry Fox Lookout.

I spent some time on the phone in the morning trying to contact the media in Thunder Bay to let them know that I would be getting to the Terry Fox Lookout Thursday afternoon and some people from the NewHopeRescue Shelter of Thunder Bay would be running with me. Between my sister and I we had some success with the radio stations but The Chronicle Journal wasn't interested in putting an article in their paper. I found it dissappointing that they didn't think saving lives was important.
