Day 149 - Whitewood

I've discovered that getting caught in the middle of a thunder storm on the prairies is not a good thing. There's no where to take cover.

When I left Moosomin the dark clouds seemed to be going east and I was going west so I thought the storm had passed over me. It was 48 km to Whitewood and the skies going that way were cloudy but they didn't look like rain clouds. There wasn't much between Moosomin and Whitewood except alot of fields. As I ran the dark clouds seemed to pass to the south and north of me. It wasn't until I got to about 18 miles and I could see the dark clouds starting to come together. It kind of reminded me of the movie Twister. I went a couple more miles and the black clouds were above me now and the thunder was unbelievable. It finally struck me that I was in the middle of no where and I was about to get poured on. I just prayed that it wouldn't hail. The only thing I could do was keep running. I didn't out run the rain but the good news was it didn't last too long. Just long enough for me to get soaked. My feet felt like they wre swimming in my shoes. I looked back at the skies and it was so eerie and black. There were still more clouds coming from the west and I hoped that I would make it to Moosomin before the next down pour. I changed my socks and kept going.

I passed more dead rabbits and birds today. I got rained on a few more times but I made it to Whitewood before the second heavy rainfall.
