Finally some sun and clear skies but I could see my breath in the cold air. It didn't matter though cause I was excited to get to Regina. Running kept me warm. It was only 24 km to Regina.
I made really good time considering I only left at 9:15 and got there by 11:30am. I called Gail at the Regina Humane Society and she would only beable to pick me up at 1:30pm. I got out of my wet clothes and went for something to eat while I waited for her.
Gail picked me up and it was a few miles to their shelter. She had called CTV and they sent a camerman over. I also talked to a reporter from the Regina Leader-Post. They would include the interview with an article they were running tomorrow on pet adoptions with PetSmart. I met all the staff and Gail gave me a tour of the shelter. Everyone was so nice. Gail even contacted the Humane Society in Moose Jaw for me so they knew I was coming. That was so helpful.
I'm glad to be able to visit with the shelters but it breaks my heart to see so many abandoned animals and I can't help but feel responsible that so many of them will die. I feel so guilty when I look at them. It hurts me that I have to walk away knowing what their fate is when we can change that for them if we just try.
Even animals need compassion and kindness!
