Day 169 - Suffield/Lethbridge

A day I'll never forget.

I was up at 6am and wanted to be ready for when Tracey, Barb and Laney got here. I went for breakfast at the Husky Restaurant. It was still dark and raining but it was suppose to clear up. I had just finished packing up all my stuff and I heard a knock at the door. It was a pretty exciting moment. I opened the door and there stood Laney and Tracey. Barb was walking Molson, a dog she was taking care of. And they even brought their own camerman, Moses, from CTV Lethbridge. Tracey was all dressed in her running gear and ready to go. I knew right away it was going to be a terrific day. After Moses did his interview he filmed us running on the highway and then he left. Gidget got the day off and rode in the car with Barb and Laney and Molson. It was so much fun running with Tracey. She loved running too and told me about the ultra marathon she did. She's even going to be running the Vegas marathon after her wedding. How cool is that. Barb and Laney were our check points every so many km. That was so great. They had food and drinks. Running with someone somehow passed the time quicker, it was barely noticeable. Before long we had reached Suffield. It was a great run! And to top it off we hopped in a vehicle en route to Lethbridge. They were so much fun to be with. It didn't feel like I had just met them. We went to Laney's place, where I would stay for the night. I met Laney's husband Byron and their cats. Laney gave me some knitted slippers that would keep me warm in the mountains. She also gave me a couple of her own knitted place holders. She is so thoughtful. Tracey and Barb came back later with a jumbo pizza. I also had the priviledge of meeting Ron, who just celebrated his 80th birthday, and his wife Ethel. They both served on the board of directors for the humane society. Wonderful people. They didn't stay long and then we sat down to eat. Barb told me the story behind Tracey running with me today and how that all came about. We had a good laugh over that. When we were done eating they took me over to their shelter. It took them four years to fund raise the money to build it. Its an amazing storey. I met Jo and Heather who also work their. We took some pictures and they all gave me some very special gifts. What a great group of people and so much fun to be around. It was getting late and time to go. Tracey wouldn't be able to come with us in the morning so I had to say good-bye to her. She was running in the Run for Cure marathon. She had given me a pair of socks with toes to prevent blisters, a Buff and some Blister Shield. Perfect gifts. Maybe she'll come to Ottawa one day for the National Capital Marathon.

I didn't want the day to end.
