When I look down the highway the road seems really long and sometimes it feels like the next town is too far. Mile after mile, after mile I wonder if I'm the only Canadian who feels there's something wrong with killing healthy cats and dogs. I feel that we are failing our pets. Then I look behind me and I see Cecile following me in her car and then someone else honks or waves and it all comes back to me. The faces of everyone I've met and who have helped me get this far. I think about my cousin Andre who dropped me off in Mackey this morning and would have followed me all the way to Deux Rivieres if Cecile had not volunteered. Before he left he had arranged for me to stay at his sisters place, Blanche-Helene and then Francine, while I went thru the North Bay area. Andre and his wife had taken care of me like a little sister these past three days. How do you thank someone who gives you their heart?
I waved at Cecile and it was comforting to have someone following. She stayed till I got settled in at the Antler campground. It was July 1st and it was full but Sandy and Doug found a spot for me. They didn't charge me and were very supportive. After some fireworks I fell asleep.
Even animals need compassion and kindness!
