Day 34 - Charlottetown

Thank you Kelly, the Charlottetown Humane Society and the Shipwright Inn.

Meeting Kelly was like meeting an old friend you haven't seen for a long time. She has that personality you feel comfortable with right away. As did everyone who worked at the shelter. It was a heartwarming visit. They did everything possible to welcome me and make me feel comfortable at the shelter. Kelly told me about how Allana worked very hard to have a warm shower and clean dry clothes ready for me that included a Newfoundland t-shirt. I was really happy to meet her and the shower took the chill away. Erin made me a hot cup of chocolate. I met Heather, Lisa and Elizabeth when I first arrived at the shelter. They were very kind to stop what they were doing to say hello. I also met Bob & Don who autographed my flag for me. They are the shelter Animal Protection Officers. I met the shelters veterinarian Dr. Cawthorn who shared with me great news about the Spay Aid Assistance Program that herself and a couple of other volunteers had started. I also met Ashley who is a student at the local college and Chad. Kelly gave me a tour of the shelter and we chatted a bit in the staff room. Everyone signed my flag and then we went outside and took some pictures. As Kelly drove away I thought what an awesome team they have and it was a priviledge to see them all at work. Kelly drove me to the Shipwright Inn where she had arranged with the owners, Judy & Trevor, for me to stay for the night. Trevor greeted us and gave us a tour of my suit and the Inn. It is a very unique place and it was a very unique experience. They make you feel at home and the service is awesome. I had a wonderful stay there and the rooms are fantastic. Breakfast the next morning was a 4 course meal and great conversation. I had a great evening there and am forever grateful to Kelly, Judy and Trevor. If anyone is going to Charlottetown its a great place to stay.

In the morning I met with Joy from SpayAid who dropped by to say hello and find out more about what I was doing. We share alot of similar goals. They will do amazing things with SpayAid. Its an excellent program. She took a couple of pictures before she left. Kelly stopped by as Bob came by to pick me up and get me on my way. It was nice chatting with him before he dropped me off at the bridge. While I was waiting for the shuttle I thought what a great team they have in PEI and that I was so fortunate to have met them all.
