Day 1
The thunder and rain came through the night. It was still wet in the morning and threatening to rain again. I wanted to get everything together and move on. I was usually careful about bugs getting into my tent but I must of missed a spider cause my mid section was full of little bites. Before I was done William came back to chat some more before I left. He asked alot of questions and was very curious about my equipment and where I was going. He talked a bit about the work him and his buddies were doing and how he was anxious to get home. It was time to go so I told him it was nice chatting with him but I had to get moving. I wanted to try and beat the rain to Virden.
The sky was pretty grey and the road was wet from the rain. The shoulders along the highway were pretty bad. I was getting a lot of spray from the traffic. It was kinda drizzly. Some people waved. I didn't have much to eat last night or this morning so I was getting pretty hungry. I would need to pick up some more supplies in Virden.
There was about five miles left to get there and an rcmp car pulled over. He asked me how I was doing and what I was doing. He was concerned about my safety with the rain and everything. I told him I was heading to Virden and would stop there for the night. He thought that was OK.
As soon as I got to Virden I headed for the restaurant and had something to eat. It was a rainy miserable day and lots of head wind so I was happy to stop here. I went to the Virden Motel and met Robin. She loved animals and was very supportive of this cause. She didn't charge me for a room. She told me about her cat and her son wanting a dog to run with. She also fosters pets once in awhile.
Tomorrow I would be crossing over into the province of Saskatchewan.
Day 2
During the night I broke out with poison oak, head to toe. Between that and some spider bites I'm not a happy camper today. I decided to stay in Virden another day to see if they would settle down. I had some wild oregano oil that my friend Andree's Mom gave me when I was in Ottawa that seemed to help. God love her for that.
Even animals need compassion and kindness!
