Day 161/163 - Swift Current

I finally had a good sleep where I slept through the night. I was glad cause it was so windy today I had my work cut out for me if I wanted to make it to Swift Current. It was minus one with the windshield factor so I was bundled up.

Just as I was leaving there was a field with Llamas and as soon as they saw me they all rushed to the fence as if to see me off. I said good morning and thanked them for the greeting. The babies were so cute.
Oooh the wind. The wind and the rolling hills were like trying to lift something and someone is pushing down on you. The gusts were up to 45km. They pretty much stop me in my tracks.

I didn't think trains could sneak up on you but they can. It happened three times where they came up beside me a scared me with their horn.

I came up to a coyote and he didn't see me right away. He looked like he was going to attempt to cross the highway. Then he saw me and ran but he kept looking back at me until he disappeared. I like to think I saved him from getting hit by a car. I also came up to a couple of horses that ran with me along the fence. I wished I had had some carrots to give them.

The wind never let up and it slowed me down considerably. I made terrible time today. By the time I got to Swift Current and called the humane society it was after 5:30pm and they closed at 5pm. I tried a couple of times just in case someone was still there but no answer. They were outside of town so it would be too far for me to get there. It was Friday night and after five so I didn't have any luck reaching the local paper either. I was dissappointed about that.

Rained out.
